About Grantham Museum and the team

WHO ARE WE

In early 2011, the Grantham Community Heritage Association (GCHA) was formed by a group of local volunteers, to manage Grantham Museum and work towards its reopening to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.

Since reopening we have continued to offer informative exhibitions for community residents and town visitors from further afield. If you would like to find out more about our aspirations and how you could be involved please feel free to contact us via our contact page.

We aim to to educate, inform and inspire our visitors with the stories of Grantham and the surrounding areas. Bringing our collective heritage to life through physical and digital exhibitions and experiences, Grantham Museum is for and by the people of Grantham.

The museum can't run by itself

OUR TRUSTEES

Grantham Museum is a volunteer run organisation that is led by our Board of Trustees. Our Trustees work together and have overall responsibility for management of the Museum. They each bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experiences from different sectors and work together to determine and create the vision and mission of the Museum.

We are an ambitious team with the mission to become a community led organisation, preserving the history of Grantham. We aim to help people of all ages who live, work and visit Grantham to understand the present, reflect on the past, and shape a positive future through our learning aids, exhibitions and events.

Having completed degrees in history and museums, I joined Grantham Museum to get more hands-on experience of how a museum works.

Creating new and different exhibitions for our visitors, delivering events and activities for all ages, with a passion for working with children and introducing them to museums and showing them how it can be fun to learn about our history.

OUR VOLUNTEERS

Our team of dedicated volunteers operate both on site, welcoming you to the museum, and behind the scenes, ensuring that that everything is up and running smoothly.

I love being involved with the museum because of the history of Grantham and researching about different phases that Grantham has gone through, such as all the industry and the wool trade etc.

Lots of very interesting people have been associated with Grantham, and they have achieved so much, all of which we can share with our visitors.
