(…. but don’t panic, it’s only for a few weeks).
We are very excited to announce that we will be closing for 5 weeks while we undergo some major improvements.
This is thanks to a successful funding bid from SKDC’s Future High Street Fund, where we are set to receive £162,000 worth of repairs to our building. The work carried out will include the installation of a new heating system, improvements to our basement storage area and the creation of a kitchen on the ground floor.
The scale of the work to be carried out means we will have to close, but our volunteers will be very busy behind the scenes making huge changes to the museum, from exhibition updates to a fresh coat of paint. We will therefore be closing from Friday 22nd August so we can start this major project.
In the mean time, you can still support us in so many ways; from donating your time, buying our friends membership, or even coming in to buy something or donate when we re-open, every little thing means we can stay open for future generations. We will have some pop-ups in the community, and have big plans to partake in this years Heritage Open Days, so watch this space for more updates (as well as sneak peeks at the work we are doing).
We look forward to opening our doors on Thursday October 2nd.
